We have some updates and changes to due dates.
Spelling Quiz will be given with the Vocabulary Quiz on October 7. No quiz Sept. 30.
Edgar Allan Poe report is now due October 12. If necessary, this date may be postponed so students can take the time they need on organization. We are using a new system of organizing their papers, and it may take a while to master it.
For this week, all students must have their thesis statements written on the appropriate 3 X 5 card by Thursday, 9/30.

Assignments and Deadlines
We're almost to the first progress reports! Here's what's due over the next couple of weeks:
English 1 & 2:
Lessons 1-16 must be completed before fall break
Next test on word lists 1-5 on 10/7
Greek:
Pages 1-48 in yellow/blue workbook done by 9/30 (2 weeks extra for Yasmine)
Alphabet quiz 10/7
Please call or e-mail if you have questions about specific assignments.
This week's focus: English: Edgar Allan Poe. You should be finishing "The Purloined Letter" and planning your Author Report. MLA format, 3 to 5 pages. The report should recap Poe's life, discuss his poetry and prose, and have a good introduction and conclusion. A sample of MLA format will be provided next week. Right now, finish the story, be prepared to discuss it on 9/21, and be thinking about your report and identifying your sources. You need 3 good sources on your "Works Cited" page.
Latin 3: working through lessons, some review of last year's work, increasing your comfort level with conjugations and declensions.
Greek: Mastery of the alphabet is key right now. Keep working in the workbook and handout sheets.
Valete,
Mrs. M.

Start of new year
It's a new school year. To determine whether or not parents would like me to post homework, etc. or just a general syllabus on this blog, I would like to ask you to email me and let me know what you want to see on this blog. Would you like daily homework assignments? More general information about what we're working on? Or just due dates for major assignments? Please send me an email at terry.martin@wacr.org or ninjagran@gmail.com and let me know what you would like this blog to look like. Thanks!
